Recreational Groups

Recreational Gymnastics is our largest program with over 800 participants each term. Classes cater for 18month olds to adults, males and females, those with experience and those new to gymnastics.  Classes are divided by age and ability (Class ages are only recommendation).


Jumping Jelly Beans

18 months to 3 years

This program is designed to help your child develop physically, intellectually, socially and mentally. Perfect for boys and girls who are walking around and ready to develop stronger gross motor skills such as dynamic balance, body and spatial awareness, visual tracking, cross patterning, strength, and flexibility. Gymnastics provides a safe environment for kids, full of exciting and colourful equipment.  Jumping jellybeans requires the child to be accompanied by a helper whether it’s a parent, grandparent, friend or nanny. This is an opportunity to help build a fun and trusting relationship through encouragement, and positive reinforcement. Kids will have the opportunity to climb, jump, hang, swing, run and play in a supportive environment created by our qualified coaches. Jumping Jellybeans is a great launch pad for your child’s physical exploration of the world around them and the start of their positive lifelong attitude to physical activity.

Classes are 45mins involving 15mins of free play and the remaining 30mins will involve group activities, helper and child activities, music, hand held equipment, gymnastic circuits and loads more fun.  

Both child and parent should wear comfortable clothing and bare feet and be ready to get involved. Due to the importance of the helpers participation mobile phones are not allowed in the gym. If you have a younger child not ready to join in please bring them in a pram, capsule or baby Bjorn.  


Kindy Bears

3 to 4 years

The Kindy Bears program caters for boys and girls from 3 to 4 years old in a fun and supportive atmosphere allowing for their physical, intellectual, social and mental growth. Children will have the opportunity to climb, jump, hang, swing, run and play on a range of equipment under the guidance of our qualified coaches. The program is designed to develop gross and fine motor skills including dynamic balance, spatial awareness, cross patterning, hand-eye coordination, strength, and flexibility, which will support their physical exploration. The classes will also help with non-physical skills such as problem solving, sharing, listening, and concentration. Kindy Bears requires the child to be accompanied by a helper whether it’s be a parent, grandparent, friend or nanny. This is an opportunities to build a fun and trusting relationship through encouragement, and positive reinforcement. Kindy Bears is a fantastic foundation for your child’s future physical and educational development.

Classes are 45mins including a warm up, gymnastic circuits, games, group activities, helper and child activities, music and loads more.

Junior Gym

4 to 6 years

The Junior Gym program caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 6 years either at the beginning of their gymnastic journey or continuing on from Kindy Bears. The child will have the opportunity to climb, jump, hang, swing, run and play in a supportive environment created by our qualified coaches. The children are grouped according to age and skill level during class. The class provides an excellent foundation for further involvement in gymnastics as well as other sports. The programs will develop the 6 main fundamental movements statics, landings, spring, locomotion, rotation and swings. Junior Gym will develop physical, intellectual, social and mental competencies including, working in groups, concentrating, skill sequencing, fine and gross motor skills, and body and spatial awareness. Junior Gym is a great way encourage a fun and health relationship with physical activity.

Classes are 45mins including a warm up, gymnastic circuits, strength, flexibility, games and group activities.

Junior Gym kids are encouraged to participate in the end of term festivals as it gives them an opportunity to show-off their new skills to family and friends and be rewarded for their hard work during the term. 

Children will be assessed through out the term to allow coaches to get to know your child’s physical, technical and mental readiness.  A child will then be referred to a head coach for the final decision on the appropriate class for the child. Junior Gym progresses to our Rec and development classes.  A Child may remain in the Junior Gym for several terms.

Girls are encouraged to wear leotards or full piece swimmer. Girls can also wear bike pants, leggings and fitted t-shirts.  Hair longer than the shoulders should be tied back and short hair should be kept out of the face e.g. material headband.
 
Boys should wear shorts and a fitted t-shirt.

No crop tops, skirts, long board shorts, jewellery or socks.


Rec Boys

7 to 11 years

Rec Boys is a class for 7-10 year olds new to gymnastic or progressing on from Junior Gym.  The children will be divided by age and skill during class.  The class is ideal for boys wanting to be a competitive gymnast or to improve their skills in other sports as it aims to build basic physical skills and gymnastic skills. The program is designed to develop gross and fine motor skills including dynamic balance, spatial awareness, cross patterning, hand-eye coordination, strength, and flexibility, which will support their physical exploration and improve their confidence.  The growth of non-physical abilities is also a key part of the program including improving concentration, discipline and mental toughness. The qualified coaches will create a positive environment to foster the athletes’ positive relationship with exercise.

Classes are 1 hour including a warm up, gymnastic circuits, games and group activities.

Rec Boys are encouraged to participate in the end of term festivals as it gives them an opportunity to show-off their new skills to family and friends and be rewarded for their hard work during the term.  They will also be able to participate in the end of year display concert.

Children will be assessed through out the term to allow coaches to get to know your child’s physical, technical and mental readiness.  Gymnasts will then be referred to MAG head coach for the final decision on the appropriate class for the child. Rec Boys progresses to Development Boys or Senior Boys classes.  Gymnasts may remain in the Rec Boys for several terms.  

Boys should wear shorts and a fitted t-shirt.

No long board shorts, or socks.


Senior Boys

11 to 17 years

Senior Boys is a recreational class for boys aged 11-17years old new to gymnastics or progressing on from Rec Boys. The program is designed for boys wanting to develop gymnastic skill while also building general physical abilities that will benefit them in different sports. The qualified coaches will focus on strength, flexibility and co-ordination during classes to foster the child’s physical confidence and capabilities. They will have the opportunity to uses arrange of equipment including trampolines, rings and parallel bars. This class will reinforce a positive relationship with physical activity and supplement other sporting endeavours. 

Classes are 1.5 hour and will include including a warm up, strength, flexibility, apparatus circuits and games.

Senior Boys are encouraged to participate in the end of term festivals as it gives them an opportunity to show-off their new skills to family and friends and be rewarded for their hard work during the term.  They will also be able to participate in the end of year display concert.

Children will be assessed through out the term to allow coaches to get to know your child’s physical, technical and mental readiness Gymnasts will then be referred to MAG head coach for the final decision on the appropriate class for the child. Senior Boys progress to the Development Boys or competitive MAG classes. Gymnasts may remain in the Senior Boys for several terms. 

Boys should wear shorts and a fitted t-shirt.

No long board shorts, jewellery or socks.


Rec Girls

7 to 12 years

Rec Girls is a program for 7years old to 12years old girls new to gymnastic and those who have participated in Junior Gym.  The children will be divided by age and skill during class.  The Rec Girls program is based on the 4 f’s of gymnastics fitness, friendship, fundamentals and fun. Classes are designed to develop the skills required for artistic gymnastics and general physical activity to allow the child to build confidence in their physical capabilities. Strength, flexibility, artistry, basic shapes and skills are the focus of the classes run by our qualified coaches. The kids’ will uses a wide variety of equipment focusing on the 4 women’s apparatus Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor. The aim is to lay the foundations for the child to either join the competitive program or advance through the recreational programs while supporting the development of a positive relationship with exercise.

Classes are 1 hour including a warm up, gymnastic circuits, chorography, games and group activities.

Rec Girls are encouraged to participate in the end of term festivals as it gives them an opportunity to show-off their new skills to family and friends and be rewarded for their hard work during the term.  They will also be able to participate in the end of year display concert.

Children will be assessed through out the term to allow coaches to get to know your child’s physical, technical and mental readiness. A child will then be referred to a head coach for the final decision on the appropriate class for the child. Rec Girls progresses to our Teen Gym, Development and Gym Skills classes.  Gymnasts may remain in the Rec Girls for several terms.

Teen Gym

13 to 17 years

Teen Gym is a program designed for girls aged 13 to 17 years old wanting to joint gymnastics or continuing on from competitive and recreational programs. Gymnasts will be divided based on age and skill level during class. This class will be beneficial for dancers and other athletes as it build physical abilities such as special awareness, balance, jumping and landing, as well as non-physical abilities such as concentration, discipline and mental toughness. The programs are based on the required, flexibility, strength, artistry, gymnastics shapes and skills for artistic gymnastics. Coaches and gymnast will set term goals in 3 areas flexibility, strength and skill acquisition to ensure the gymnasts enjoy their classes while having a clear understanding of the purpose of their training. Teen Gym is a great way to develop positive behaviours towards exercise and build their confidence

Classes are 1.5 hours and will include including a warm up, chorography, skill strength, flexibility and apparatus circuits.

Teen Gym athletes are encouraged to participate in the end of term festivals as it gives them an opportunity to show-off their new skills to family and friends and be rewarded for their hard work during the term.  They will also be able to participate in the end of year display concert.

Children will be assessed through out the term to allow coaches to get to know your child’s physical, technical and mental readiness. A child will then be referred to a head coach for the final decision on the appropriate class for the child. Rec Girl’s progresses to our Gym Skills classes.  Gymnasts may remain in the Teen Gym for several terms

Teen Tumbling

13 to 17 years

Is for ex-gymnasts who no longer want to compete but would like to continue with gymnastics, concentrating on tumbling and acro.


Adult Gymnastics

Adults Gym classes are for people new to gymnastics and ex-gymnast. Gymnastics is a great way to improve strength, flexibility and overall fitness. A one off class is a great way to add variety to an exercise program or as cross training. Term long programs are great for learning a new skill such as handstand walking or backflips. Qualified coaches will run warm up, body weight strength and flexibility  at the beginning of the lesson to build physical abilities, basics gymnastic shapes and techniques. This will be followed by time to work on a range of skills and equipment.  Classes must be booked and paid for prior.

Classes are 2 hours and will include warm-up, strength, flexibility and skill development.

Comfortable sportswear is recommended.

No Crop tops, jewellery or socks.
